Page 3 of 9 Fixed-Term Contracts The fourth anniversary of the Fixed-Term Employees (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2002 recently occurred which means that the employment status of any fixed-term employee with 4 years service now automatically changes to permanent. Employers please note that if you have a fixed-term employee whose status is due to change, you must ensure that a 'statement of change' letter is issued to the employee outlining their amended notice period within 1 month of their change to permanent status. Failure to comply with this could result in a tribunal award of up to 4 weeks pay for the employee. If you have any concerns or would like a 'statement of change' letter please contact the Support Line.
